Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit or purchase from csgalearn.ca (the “Site”).

The Canadian Seed Growers’ Association (CSGA) is committed to protecting personal information and complying with Canada’s privacy laws, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.

CSGA is committed to maintaining the privacy of personal information provided to it and protecting all personal information in its possession or control.

Collection of Personal Information

In order to register for an e-learning course, CSGA requires your name and e-mail address. You will also be asked to create a personalized login including a username and password.

For purchases through the Site, CSGA collects certain information, including the client’s name, billing address, shipping address, payment and credit card information, email address, and phone number. Payment information is transmitted directly to the payment processor (Woo Commerce) and credit card information is not stored on CSGA systems. CSGA will retain your name, billing address, email address, and phone number in order to communicate with you about your purchase.

Once registered, Program and Module completion is tracked and recorded in CSGA’s seed certification database to officially accredit individual seed growers with applicable accreditations. This may include Plot Grower Accreditation, Accredited Seed Grower Accreditation, or third-party recognitions such as CSGA Plant Breeder Recognition.

By registering for an account or purchasing eLearning materials on the Site, you are formally acknowledging consent to the collection and use of personal information for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. 

CSGA is accountable for personal information in its possession or control. This includes any personal information that CSGA received directly from clients through the store or indirectly through third parties purchasing eLearning content on behalf of individual learners.

CSGA has established and put into effect policies and procedures to properly protect personal information and has educated its employees regarding its Privacy Policy and their role and responsibilities in keeping personal information private. 

CSGA protects the privacy of personal information in its possession or control by using security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. Authentication is used to prevent unauthorized access to personal information stored electronically. Encryption is used to prevent unauthorized access to personal information received or sent over the Internet. For files and other materials containing personal information entrusted to a third-party service provider (e.g., programmers, IT technicians), CSGA obtains appropriate assurance to affirm that the level of protection of personal information by the third party is equivalent to that of CSGA.

Changes

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to our practices or other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons.
